Description of Project
|
|
Tasman developed and
presented an in-house program on PSDS on capacity building with
the aim of increasing the capacity of Bank staff across several
levels as part of the ADB’s efforts to provide an enabling
environment for private sector development. The 10 sessions in
Manila reviewed private sector participation in Asia -- in
infrastructure and the social sectors such as health,
agriculture and education. The workshops also focused on some
of the signal experiences in countries where privatization has
gone very wrong - such as Russia - and areas such as
Victoria,
Australia where there has been substantial improvement in
service delivery, efficiency, increased investment, increased
employment and debt reduction. Issues related to customer focus,
regulation and customer accounts - that underpin financing
arrangements, were subject to detailed discussion. Risk issues,
including currency and domestic finance were analyzed.
